Welcome to the Frankfort Area Obituary Index. This database is made possible by a collaborative effort between the Frankfort Public Library District and the Frankfort Area Historical Society.
SOME SEARCH GUIDELINES:
The search fields shown below are designed to help residents, family members, and researchers locate information about deceased individuals. These fields can be used to search by first name, last name, or both.
In addition to names, you can search by date of death, choosing an exact date if known or simply the year. For example, if you know an individual passed away in 1998 but not the exact day, entering “1998” will retrieve all relevant records from that year.
The search field also supports searches by key terms, such as the cause of death, final resting place, or other specific details. For instance:
Searching “car accident” could display records linked to individuals who passed under such circumstances.
Entering “Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery” might show individuals interred at this location.
Additionally, results can include details about military service. For example:
Typing “World War I veteran” may retrieve obituaries of individuals who served during that conflict.
Once the search results are displayed, users can select a specific record to access the full obituary and additional information. If no exact matches are found, the system will display No results were found message noting that there are no records that match the key terms.
